Patrick and Brittany Mahomes welcomed their third child on January 12 – and fans have raised eyebrows over their daughter’s name.
The couple, who share Sterling Skye, three, and Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes II, two, took to Instagram to share that they have called their baby girl Golden Raye, keeping on theme with their metal-based names.
However, cynical fans have pointed out they have subconsciously ‘ranked’ their children – setting them up for a lifetime of competition.
People took to social media to share their thoughts over the interesting monikers.
‘So they named their kids second, third and first?’ one fan questioned.
‘Cool so Bronze gets a lifetime supply of sibling inferiority complex. Great job parents,’ another sarcastically replied.
‘Bronze and Sterling gonna hate Golden,’ warned another.
‘Well we all know who the least favorite is. Kid named Bronze and one named Golden,’ agreed someone else.

The Mahomes’ unique naming tradition has gained attention from fans but there is a sentimental story behind their metal-inspired names.
The 29-year-old Kansas City Chiefs star and his wife made the announcement of their third child’s addition to the family via Instagram, posting a photo showing a glimpse of their baby girl’s foot.
Patrick revealed during a press conference that his younger brother, Jackson Mahomes 24, came up with the nickname Bronze.
‘Jackson suggested Bronze to match Sterling, and it fit perfectly,’ the quarterback explained at the time. ‘It works out well.’
‘He can have his own thing now where he’s not Patrick, he’s Bronze, even though he’s Patrick. And, Sterling and Bronze can have that connection moving forward,’ he added.
In a May 2023 Instagram Q&A, the blonde mom-of-three shared that their naming theme began years ago — with their pups.
It started with the couple’s two dogs, Steel and Silver, which she takes credit for naming.

‘I got Steel in college and named him that. Then we got another dog, and I wanted to name her Sterling because it went with Steel perfectly. But I decided to save that name for my daughter,’ she explained at the time.
Patrick and Brittany are high school sweethearts. They started dating in March 2012 and even attended their prom together a year later.
The high-profile couple got engaged in September 2020, months after Patrick had won his first Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
Over the past 18 months, Brittany has struck up a high-profile friendship with Taylor Swift after the pop megastar began dating Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce.
