Parliamentarian: Abydos station is a qualitative leap in the path of transformation towards renewable energy

Representative Mohamed Ezzat El-Qadi, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives, said that the opening of the Abydos 1 solar power plant in Aswan Governorate represents an important step in the path of transition towards renewable energy, and is part of the state’s strategy to enhance reliance on clean and sustainable energy sources.

The judge pointed out that the Abidos solar power station in Aswan Governorate is the largest in the Middle East and Africa and was implemented with the Emirati company Al Nowais with investments amounting to $440 million. It is considered a new achievement in Renewable energy file, providing 5,000 job opportunities and 1,200 indirect jobs, most of the job opportunities are from the people of Upper Egypt.

Al-Qadi said, the Abydos 1 station works to reduce the emissions of 782 thousand tons of carbon dioxide, and it also provides electrical energy to 582 people. One thousand homes, and the Abydos solar station is considered part of the state’s plan to secure the summer of 2025 so as not to have to reduce loads again.

MP Mohamed Ezzat Al-Qadi confirmed, The use of clean energy is part of a national plan that aims to achieve environmental sustainability and renewable energy by 2035, a trend that is fully consistent with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which places clean energy as a priority for achieving sustainable development.
