Speaker of the House of Representatives: The Egyptian army is an impenetrable dam that defends the nation’s dignity and sovereignty with all courage and dedication, keeping in mind the protection of every inch of Egyptian land
Regarding the recent developments taking place in the Syrian state, Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali said; The Speaker of the House of Representatives, during the plenary session today, Sunday: I am talking to you today; Not only in the words of an Egyptian citizen, but also in the words of an Arab citizen. He is preoccupied with the concerns of his Arab nation, most notably the successive political developments that sister Syria is going through. Arab national security is an indivisible whole, and the established historical relationship between Egypt and Syria makes Syria’s security and stability a vital matter for Egypt, and closely linked to Egypt’s national security and to Arab national security.< /p>
The Speaker of Parliament added: Let everyone know that Egypt’s position on the protracted crisis that sister Syria has experienced, for thirteen years, was – and still is – a position governed by considerations of preserving Arab national security, and is based on the necessity of preserving the unity of Syria’s land and people, and ensuring its sovereignty over its lands without neglect or derogation, rejecting foreign interference in its affairs, and respecting the choices of the brotherly Syrian people. The solution to the Syrian crisis can only be politically par excellence. The Egyptian state has adhered – at all times – to Security Council Resolution No. 2254 as an ideal framework for starting a comprehensive political process, led by the free will of the Syrians, and establishing a system that reflects the pluralism of the people without fanaticism, sectarianism or exclusion, and preserves Its national institutions, which are the property of this ancient people.
He continued: We must be aware that the delay in launching a real political process has cost the brotherly Syrian people a heavy price. At this defining moment that beloved Syria is going through, there is no room for narrowing horizons or diminishing hope for narrow interests or visions that rise above the comprehensive Syrian national interest. Today, more than ever before, the Syrian nation is in dire need to unite its ranks, forget differences, and build together the homeland it deserves, the Syria we aspire to. A democratic Syria embraces all its people without distinction or discrimination, and restores its unity and sovereignty away from the evils of civil wars and sectarian strife.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed that preserving Syria is a clear and unambiguous commitment, and the entire international community must bear responsibility for it. Syria is a founding member of the United Nations, and it is unacceptable in any way to allow any party to exploit the delicate circumstances or the rapid transformations that Syria is witnessing to establish a new reality on the ground, to undermine its unity and territorial integrity, or to bring about changes that affect its identity and constants.
He said: From this standpoint, we condemn – From under the dome of the Egyptian Parliament – The blatant Israeli practices in the occupied Syrian Golan, which represent a blatant violation of international law and Security Council resolutions, and an unacceptable attempt to perpetuate the occupation and expand its territory.
He explained that the land of Syria belongs to its people alone, and the international community cannot turn a blind eye to these violations that threaten international peace and security.
He continued: We also reject with all force, and in the strongest terms, every attempt by any regional or international party that seeks to impose areas of influence on Syrian territory, or interfere in internal Syrian affairs, whether that is by attempts to change the geographical or demographic reality, or by fueling sectarian and ethnic strife, Or by spreading exclusionary trends that have no place in the new Syria that we aspire to; Syria, which is based on unity, justice, and coexistence among all its people.
