Teddy Riner won his third individual Olympic title on Friday in the top category of over 100 kg after 2012 and 2016 and his fourth title in total, including the team gold in Tokyo in 2021.
The head of the French Judo Federation judges this record “monstrous”. “He did the impossible, no one thought you could be an Olympic champion at 35”insists Stéphane Nomis, who “lost his voice” by dint of encouraging Teddy Riner on Friday. Stéphane Nomis is delighted with the overall performance of French judokas at the 2024 Paris Games, which won “nine medals”. “70% of our participants leave with an individual medal, this has never happened before”, he boasts.
