FBoy Island contestant Paddy Colliar promises that he’s really changed his FBoy ways, despite claims made by Krystal Thomas earlier this week.
In case you missed it, during the FBoy Island finale, Krystal chose to put her money on Paddy. His status was revealed to be a Nice Guy but by the time the season finale finally made it to our screens, six months had passed and their relationship was already over.
While their official statement said that they had drifted apart, Krystal told PEDESTRIAN.TV that Paddy had “completely blindsided” her during the show and claimed he put on a “nice guy act” that didn’t line up with the man she saw after the cameras stopped filming.
However, Paddy claims there’s more to the story.
“People will say anything to make themselves look blameless but also get a reaction out of everyone around them,” Paddy told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“After the show, Krystal went back to her normal routine. Things didn’t go as smoothly for me, as I returned to some personal family things going down that needed my full attention, it was a tough time.”
When he returned from set to his home in Adelaide, he was faced with a series of challenges that he says made it difficult to give his full attention to his long-distance relationship with Krystal.
“As well as the family situation I had another surgery on my face and honestly couldn’t give her the attention she wanted,” he continued.
“We spoke a lot on the phone, she demanded my attention but my family came first. She didn’t seem to believe what I was doing. Nothing I did seemed to please her.
“I struggled to juggle everything that was going on, and it started to get a bit much for me, but I completely take that on the chin and something I really need to work on.”
Paddy says that he was ready to jump on a plane to visit her but by then, the little arguments had started to take a toll on their relationship.
“We just kept getting into little arguments and the spark soon faded,” he said.
“I didn’t want to mess with her emotions or feelings and honestly we barely knew each other.”
Although Paddy admits it was difficult to watch the season back, he’s proud of the man he was on FBoy Island.
“I saw someone who was seriously trying to change who they were for the better but still being slammed for their past. Her mind was already made up about me and there was no way I could change that,” he said.
“I am truly grateful for her and the time we had together on the island. The feelings were real and she allowed me to be myself and open up which was a really nice feeling.
“Although it didn’t work out, I don’t dislike Krystal by any means. She has apparently moved on and started seeing someone now. I hope it all works out for her.”
Now that FBoy Island has wrapped, Paddy hopes that audiences might have a different impression of him from his days on The Bachelorette and Bachelor In Paradise.
“I ain’t The Bachelorette Paddy everyone once knew, but I’m liking this Paddy and it’s been bloody hard to get to this stage,” he said.
“I’m going to take what I’ve learned from this and use it to build bigger and better things. You haven’t seen the last of me yet.”
So, there you go. After all, there are always two sides to every story.
