Outages hit several banks including ANZ and Bendigo Bank on Christmas Eve

ANZ is among several banks that have been hit by an outage with some customers experiencing issues accessing their accounts online.

The Big Four bank confirmed ‘intermittent issues’ had been reported on its goMoney app and internet banking services in New Zealand.

An ANZ spokesman apologised for the inconvenience and said the bank was working quickly to resolve the problem.

Bendigo Bank has also been impacted in Australia with customers having trouble accessing the phone app and e-banking services.

‘We are aware that our app and e-banking are currently unavailable,’ a spokeswoman from the bank said.

‘Our teams are working to restore service as soon as possible.’

Social media users, who are customers of Bendigo Bank, were left outraged.

‘Bendigo Bank ruined Christmas,’ one wrote.

Another added: ‘Pathetic!!’

‘This is happening more and more with the Bendigo Bank app,’ a third added.

Others said they are considering taking their business elsewhere as they have been affected the problem on several occasions previously.

The tech issue has left many customers in rural communities unable to access essential banking services.

‘I am in a country town where they don’t have a [branch] so I am stuck,’ one person wrote.

Others said they were experiencing difficulties paying for fuel at a local bower.

Some said the issue could derail planned festivities and family gathered ahead of the Christmas day on Wednesday.

‘If I don’t do the [trek] to town soon there won’t be a Christmas lunch in this house,’ one infuriate person wrote.
