New Delhi: NSA Ajit Doval on Wednesday called for urgent need to reform multilateralism and pitched for the role of Global South in international affairs. He was participating in the BRICS NSAs meeting, which was held in the expanded format for the first time, in Saint Petersburg.
During the sessions of the meet, Doval spoke on modern security challenges, including ICT-related issues and terrorism, and the need to address them through joint efforts within the BRICS framework, ET has learnt. The meet also gave final shape to the summit to be held in Kazan from October 22-24.
Doval is also understood to have discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the need for Russia’s participation in any peace talks with his various counterparts and Russian interlocutors.
Doval and the Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi, who also represents China as NSA, met each other briefly.
