Nottingham Forest showdown with Arsenal next month is set to be moved to avoid Nuno’s high-flyers playing twice in just 48 hours
Nottingham Forest’s clash with Arsenal next month is set to be put back by a day to avoid Nuno Espirito Santo’s side facing two potentially season-defining games in the space of 48 hours.
Under the current fixture schedule, Forest – who are third in the table, two points behind Arsenal – are due to travel to Newcastle on February 23, before facing Arsenal in an evening kick-off at the City Ground two days later.
With Newcastle only three points behind Forest and in excellent form, these fixtures could be some of the toughest of Forest’s season.
Producing their best form against two such tough opponents, with such a tight turnaround, would be a huge challenge for Nuno’s men.
Meanwhile, Forest are showing a strong interest in Brentford forward Yoane Wissa in the final fortnight of the January transfer window.
Wissa has been one of the best attackers in the Premier League this term, with 11 goals and two assists, and is coveted by a number of top clubs.

Though Bees boss Thomas Frank has ruled out selling Wissa’s strike partner Bryan Mbeumo this month, it is thought the club may consider offers for Wissa.
Though Forest are keen, their movement in the market is dependent on finding a buyer for Taiwo Awoniyi. Awoniyi is currently back-up to Forest’s top scorer Chris Wood and there is some interest in the Nigerian from West Ham.
Forest are still hoping to agree new deals with Wood and Ola Aina, whose contracts expire at the end of the season. They would also like to ensure star playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White signs a new long-term contract.
