Arab Defense Website November 14, 2024: Images have spread on Russian social media of North Korean long-range artillery systems in Russia, sparking new discussions about recent military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
The images are said to show the M1989 “Koksan” 170mm self-propelled artillery unit being transported across Russian territory.
The M1989 “Koksan” – named after the city in which it was first sighted – is a heavy artillery system known for its long-range capabilities. This weapons system was first developed by North Korea in the 1980s, and its Western designation “M1989” refers to the year it first appeared in public.
