Prime Video has acquired worldwide rights to Nigerian director Tosin Igho‘s supernatural revenge thriller “Suspicion,” setting a global streaming release for Nov. 28. The film will be distributed as a Prime Video Original across the platform.
Stan Nze (“RattleSnake: The Ahanna Story,” “Colourless,” “The Blind Date”) leads the cast as Voke, a man who wields ancient Juju powers and embarks on a vengeful quest after his goddaughter’s murder. The narrative explores the intersection of traditional African mysticism and contemporary moral questions as Voke navigates a complex world of black magic.
The film, produced by Igho’s Divergent Films, features an ensemble cast including Omowunmi Dada, Kalu Ikeagwu, Uzor Arukwe, Shaffy Bello, and Richard Mofe-Damijo, who also serves as executive producer. Divergent Studios handled the supernatural elements through a mix of practical effects and CGI.
“African powers aren’t just about spectacle, they’re deeply rooted in moral responsibilities and consequences,” says Igho, whose previous feature “Seven” for Netflix earned seven Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards nominations and two wins. “Traditional African magic has always been about balance. When you dish out vengeance, you must be prepared to taste its bitterness yourself.”
Nze added: “’Suspicion’ is more than a story of supernatural vengeance; it’s an exploration of justice through an African lens. This film challenges us to confront the moral costs of power and journeys into the soul of Nigerian culture, seeing justice, vengeance, and tradition clash in complex and unexpected ways. Audiences will have a new perspective of African mysticism rarely explored on this scale.”
