Nicole Scherzinger is credited with helping form One Direction while serving as a judge on The X Factor UK and she actually kept in touch with Liam Payne until he passed away.

We just learned that Nicole was actually texting with Liam on the day that he died.

The news was revealed by Broadway composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, who wrote the music for Sunset Boulevard. Nicole is currently starring in the show in New York.

“I suppose something that hasn’t been said, and I suppose I could say, is that of course she mentored Liam, from One Direction,” Lloyd Webber told Billboard. “On the Wednesday when he died, she was still texting him that day.”

Lloyd Webber said that Nicole still showed up to perform in Sunset Boulevard, just hours after learning the news that Liam passed away.

“She’d just heard that he died, and the fact that she even did the show at all is extraordinary. I mean, she is an amazing, amazing woman. She is without any question one of the finest performers I’ve ever worked with,” he said. “One thing about Nicole is that once she’s committed to something, she is the most incredible company member and leader of any performer I know.”

Nicole is earning rave reviews for her performance in Sunset Boulevard and is considered the frontrunner for the Tony Award next year.
