Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Andy Dalton was in a car accident with his wife, three children, and the family’s dog in the car this week, his team announced on Tuesday.
The Panthers also stated no one in the Dalton family was transported to the hospital as a result of the accident.
However, Dalton himself is being checked out by the team’s doctors, a Panthers spokesperson added.
Dalton married his wife Jordan in 2011 and the couple have two sons, Nash and Noah, as well as a daughter, Finley. The family dog’s name and breed are unknown.
Dalton took over as the Panthers’ starter in Week 3 for Bryce Young and has not relinquished the job despite the team’s one-win record.

Dalton, who turns 37 next week, has been in Carolina since last season after a lengthy career with the Cincinnati Bengals that ended in 2019.
The Panthers have lost six games this season all by 10 points or more, including Sunday’s defeat to the Washington Commanders by a 40-7 score line.
Dalton is nearing the end of his NFL career after being drafted in 2011.
The Panthers lone win this season was Dalton’s first game as the teams starter over the Las Vegas Raiders.
More stiff tests await Carolina as they play on the road against the Broncos next, followed by a game against its division rival, the New Orleans Saints.
In the mean time, Dalton will be thankful he, his wife, children, or dog were not seriously hurt in the accident.
