NFL star Malik Nabers pays heartbreaking tribute to Kyren Lacy after ex-LSU teammate died by suicide

New York Giants star Malik Nabers has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his friend Kyren Lacy, who committed suicide at the age of 24 on the weekend.

Nabers, a wide reciever who played with Lacy at LSU before being drafted by the Giants last year, posted on Instagram on Monday: ‘Pain. Numb. Sad. Sorrowful. Downcast. Hurt. Broken. Devastated. Empty. Miserable.

‘So this how it feels huh!! To lose a part of yo heart. Damn you loved unconditionally. You put a smile on everyone’s face ig (I guess) we forgot to give you the same smile.

‘When we had that talk before dat game I made history, I realized we was twins across Louisiana tryna get it the same way. Damn man I just gave u the tightest hug ever when I saw u bruh.

‘Why you ain’t call leek brudda, you know I had you bruh whatever u needed!! Dude ya f****n hurt me bruh!!! This the first day of my life I felt the world go by slower then it ever did.

‘I can play back every memory in my head and you saying I ain’t gone be able to joce wit ya nomo??!!! WHAT? You serious 2??’

On Sunday, it emerged that the former LSU receiver took his own life, with reports claiming that he shot himself following a police chase.

It came days before he was due in court accused of negligent homicide, over a December car crash that killed a 78-year-old Louisiana man.

Lacy was considered one of the top prospects coming out of college football ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

But he was arrested on January 13, with cops accusing him of driving recklessly – speeding and passing in a no-passing zone – when a motorist, who was swerving to avoid Lacy´s Dodge Charger, crashed head-on into another vehicle. He was also alleged to have fled the scene.

Lacy was charged with negligent homicide, hit-and-run driving with serious injury or death and reckless operation with accident. He was released on $151,000 bond and the case was set to be heard by a grand jury on Monday.
