NFL fans have mocked the Chicago Bears offense, joking that country singer Shaboozey was on the field longer than them in the first half in Detroit on Thursday.
The Bears and their rookie quarterback Caleb Williams desperately struggled to get anything going early on in a tough Thanksgiving matchup against the Lions.
In fact, they were so poor offensively in the first half that they were only on the field for just over seven minutes.
During that period, Williams and his offense managed to record just two first downs and 57 yards.
As they returned to the locker room at halftime, country singer Shaboozey emerged at Ford Field to treat the fans in attendance and millions watching at home to a performance.
The singer performed for around six minutes and 26 seconds, prompting NFL fans to take to social media and joke that he’d been on the field longer than the struggling Bears offense.

One fan posted: ‘Shaboozey is going to be on the field longer than the Bears offense.’
Another replied to video of Shaboozey walking around the field while singing with: ‘Total yards… Bears: 5 Shaboozey: 7
Quoting his famous song, another added: ‘”Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey”… Bears fans and Shaboozey.’
Finally, a fourth commented: ‘Shaboozey has created more offense than #DaBears today in Detroit’.
Fans watching the game immediately flooded social media with praise for Shaboozey’s ‘family-friendly’ six-minute set.
The Grammy-nominated singer, 29, who earlier this year sparked rumors of a romance with Emily Ratajkowski, treated the crowd to a mix of his hit songs, including Tipsy (A Bar Song) and Last of My Kind.
‘Well done, @ShaboozeysJeans. Good, clean, family-friendly performance at halftime,’ one fan wrote.
Another chimed in with excitement: ‘AMERICA has made the turn… NFL has Shaboozey (country star) playing at halftime! Finally, something everyone can watch that’s not foul and disgusting like normal music for NFL games.’
Several others expressed their appreciation for the wholesome nature of the show. One fan declared, ‘No need for grinding, wardrobe malfunctions, or satanic staging! Well done, @DetroitLions. #nfl #detroitlions. He represented well.’
It came two days after the star’s song A Bar Song (Tipsy) added an 18th week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Fortunately for the Bears, their offense improved dramatically in the second half and they even had a chance to cause a huge shock before squandering it at the death.
Head coach Matt Eberflus made a mess of the final play of the game and allowed time to expire when the Bears still had a chance of making a field goal that would have sent the game to overtime.
Chicago is now 4-8 for the season and Eberflus has overseen an underwhelming first NFL season for quarterback Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft.
The manner of the loss in Detroit heaped more pressure on Eberflus, with the Bears last in the NFC North.
However, it seems the franchise is sticking with him after he completed his usual post-game Zoom call with reporters on Friday morning.
While not directly speaking about his future, Eberflus revealed things were ‘normal’ and said he was working on the team’s game against the San Francisco 49ers on December 8.
‘I’m going to be working on finishing up this game and… working to San Francisco,’ he said.
