Netflix has announced that it is renewing Emily in Paris for a fifth season, following the return of Season 4 on September 12.
Season 4 – which was split into two parts, with Part 1 debuting on August 12 – sees Emily (Lily Collins) embark on a romance with a handsome Italian fashion exec and then move to Italy to open a Rome office for Agence Grateau.
The Season 5 announcement featured a teaser of Emily sitting on rooftop terrace in Rome as she sipped on an espresso, saying, “There’s no place like Rome”, with a wink.
The show’s creator Darren Star confirmed that the Rome connection is set to continue in Season 5.
“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!,” he told Netflix’s Tudum.
It does not mean that Emily will be quitting the French capital for good.
“Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” says Star. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”
Talking about the upcoming Season 5 on Good Morning AmericaCollins said she was looking forward to seeing what happens between her character and her fashion exec love interest. Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
Season 4 of Emily in Paris made its debut on August 12 in the number one slot in the Netflix Global Top 10 with 19.9M views in its first four days on release, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries, according to the platform.
