NATO strengthens its presence in Eastern Europe

NATO is sending additional fighters and ships to Eastern Europe due to the situation around Russia and Ukraine.

Denmark sent a frigate to the Baltic Sea and four F-16 fighter jets to Lithuania. Spain will also provide its ships to NATO, as well as fighters from Bulgaria.

France expressed its willingness to send troops to Romania under the command of NATO. The Netherlands will send two F-35 fighter jets to Bulgaria from April to support NATO air police activities in the region, and will also prepare ship and land units for the NATO Response Force.

The press release on the alliance’s website confirmed that the United States intends to increase its military presence in Eastern Europe.
