"National Center for Persons with Disabilities" Participates in the fourth round of the universal periodic review of the human rights file in Geneva

Dr. Iman Karim, General Supervisor of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, participates within a high-level government delegation, headed by Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, in the fourth round of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the human rights file of member states of the United Nations, This review will be held from January 24 to 28 in Geneva, Switzerland, under the umbrella of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

 

In a related context, Dr. Iman Karim, General Supervisor of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, explained that the Egyptian state is subject to a comprehensive periodic review, like the rest of the member states of the United Nations, in order to find out the latest developments in the field of promoting and protecting human rights, taking into account its international obligations. Egypt participated in three previous rounds, and the current round is the fourth since the establishment of this mechanism, pointing out that the universal periodic review of human rights takes place through a main session in which each United Nations member state reviews its report in this framework, pointing out that the main session of the round Fourth The Universal Periodic Review will be held on January 28,  In it, the Egyptian state reviews its report on the promotion and protection of human rights, stressing that the Egyptian state confirms its commitment to the provisions of the national strategy for human rights that was launched in September 2021. This strategy consists of 4 stages, in which they are based on an integrated vision and a clear philosophy of human rights stemming from the conviction of will. politics, and its complete belief in that.

The comprehensive periodic review of the human rights file is also being conducted through the side event that will be held on January 24 under the title “Social and Economic Progress and Empowerment in Egypt: Achievements and Challenges.” The Ministry of Social Solidarity and the three national councils, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, are participating in this event. , the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and the National Council for Women, and each party will present at this event its report that highlights its progress in its field of work.
