My Chemical Romance Releases Tribute For Bob Bryar

Godfathers of emo music My Chemical Romance have shared a lovely Instagram post remembering former bandmate Bob Bryar who was found dead in his Tennessee home last week.

Over the weekend, fans and folks who’ve been impacted by the 2000s emo movement were left heartbroken after police confirmed that former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar, 44, had died.

Following the tragic news, Bryar’s former band released a statement on Instagram on Tuesday (Australian time), celebrating and thanking the drummer’s contributions to My Chemical Romance‘s journey.

“It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance,” the touching tribute began.

“We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time. May he rest in peace.”

Comments on the post have been turned off by the band, but the tribute has garnered hundreds and thousands of likes from fans across the globe.

Prior to the Instagram statement, a spokesperson from the band told Variety: “The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s passing.”

Per TMZ, authorities found Bryar dead in his Tennessee home after he was last seen alive on November 4.

The publication also reported that police do not suspect any foul play as the drummer’s weapons and music equipment were left untouched.

Bryar played with My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010. Following his departure, he officially retired from the music industry and became a real estate agent.

In his spare time, Bryar also worked for a charity that rescues dogs.

Per 9Honey, Bryar auctioned off the drum set he used in My Chemical Romance’s 2006 tour for The Black Parade.

Following the auction, the former drummer reportedly donated all the money to an animal rescue he volunteered for.

My Chemical Romance is set to kick off its Long Live The Black Parade stadium tour next year in the US. Although Bryar played a huge part in that era, he was not on the lineup to play alongside the band in 2025.
