Multiple people are feared dead after an SUV allegedly plowed into crowds celebrating New Year on a popular party street in New Orleans, according to reports.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Bourbon Street, famous for its many bars and clubs, and Iberville around 3.15am local time, WGNO reported.
New Orleans police has not specified how many fatalities there are. Injuries are also unknown at this time.
Bourbon Street has been shut down and paramedics have been called to scene.
Jim Mowrer, a US Army vet who claims he was on Bourbon Street with his wife at the time of the incident, said on X that he saw an SUV ‘speeding’ down the road and ‘running people over’.
