‘Misinformed, unacceptable’: India shows mirror to Iran’s Khamenei over his ‘enemies of Islam’ remark – The Economic Times Video
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, on Sept 16, said, ‘India is among the nations where suffering of Muslims endures’. In a post on ‘X,’ Khamenei referred to India and said the Islamic world should not remain oblivious to the condition of Muslims in these places. In response to Khamenei’s comments, India promptly disagreed, stating that it “strongly deplores the comments”. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “These are misinformed and unacceptable” remarks. Furthermore, the MEA ‘held up a mirror’ to Iran regarding the rights of minorities in their country and advised Iran to “look at its own record”. Time and again, Iran has called for an ‘Islamic Ummah’ or Muslim Brotherhood for Muslims around the world. Notably, VP Dhankhar led the Indian delegation at the official funeral ceremony of Iranian President Raisi in Tehran, Iran, in May earlier this year.
