Minister of Tourism: We are keen to cooperate with all parties in a manner that takes into account the requirements of tourist facilities
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathi, stressed the Ministry’s keenness to cooperate with all parties in a manner that takes into account the requirements of tourist facilities while adhering to all standards and requirements required to preserve the course of the Nile River and its branches.
This came during his participation in the meeting of the committee formed headed by Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and in the presence of Major General Arkan Harb, Director General of the Armed Forces Land Projects Authority, and members of the committee from the competent authorities in the ministries of tourism and antiquities, water resources and irrigation, housing, utilities and urban communities, and the agency. Armed Forces Land Projects, to study a number of points concerned with the continuation of the work of the electronic system of the Armed Forces Land Projects Authority for the governance of dealing with river drainage lands, dealing with encroachments and backfilling works in the water sector of the Nile River course, and studying categories in exchange for exploitation of river drainage lands, water, and mooring. Floating boats outside the sector from Shubra to Helwan, in light of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to follow up on procedures for dealing with the lands offered by the river in the sector from Shubra to Helwan in the Greater Cairo area.
For his part, Dr. Hani Sweilem stressed the importance of coordination between the various concerned state agencies regarding dealing with the Nile River and its two branches, taking into account all technical standards that guarantee the preservation of the river’s water sector and the protection of its bridges, in conjunction with preserving existing investments along the river’s course, taking into account applicable requirements and laws.
During the meeting, the position of the electronic system of the Armed Forces Land Projects Authority for the governance of dealing with the River Tarh lands, the purpose of its establishment, the method of its work and the results of its work was reviewed, where it was emphasized that continued coordination between The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the Armed Forces Land Projects Authority, and all ministries and concerned authorities to expedite the study of special applications for licensing works and activities on the Nile River and make decisions regarding them as quickly as possible in order to preserve existing and future investments.
< p>It was also agreed to continue the work of removing encroachments on the course of the Nile River and its two branches to ensure the passage of water procedures required to meet all water needs, and to emphasize the role of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation as an Asilah state body in dealing with violations of all kinds.
