Minister of Tourism follows up on the implementation status of the “Instagram Filters” project at the Egyptian Museum
Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, held a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with a delegation from the global company META, to follow up on the implementation status of the “Instagram Filters” project. At the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, in preparation for its launch soon, which will contribute to improving the tourism experience in the two museums and promoting the cultural tourism product more widely.
For their part, the company officials, through a presentation, reviewed the work that was implemented to complete this project, which aims to create a virtual simulation using virtual reality technology, to show the original appearance of a number of artifacts displayed in the two museums, which were carefully selected to implement the project, to reflect the different historical eras of the ancient Egyptian civilization and to appear as the ancient Egyptians made them thousands of years ago, so that visitors can see them completely as if they were in their original state, by using specific applications on their smartphones during their visit to the two museums.
This experience will also contribute to raising archaeological and cognitive awareness among visitors about the greatness and antiquity of the ancient Egyptian civilization, in addition to enhancing and enriching their tourism experience inside the two museums, which will contribute to enhancing interaction on topics related to the two museums on social media, and at the same time play an entertaining role And educational.
This experience is scheduled to provide visitors with all the information related to these artifacts, which were selected according to their importance to show the different historical eras of Egyptian civilization, and to also be in line with the vision of each museum and the goal of the project.
The company officials also reviewed the activities and proposals that the company can provide to the ministry during the coming period, which would contribute to benefiting from the capabilities of Metaverse technology to promote digital tourism for Egyptian tourist destinations and cities, as well as raising tourism and archaeological awareness among Egyptian youth and introducing tourists to the antiquity of Egyptian civilization and its great history, through specialized applications that the company will launch on social media platforms, especially in light of its special features such as publishing photos, video clips and stories.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s representatives, including Yamna Al-Bahar, Deputy Minister, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Dr. Ali Abdel Halim, Director-General of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
A delegation from the company’s representatives participated in the meeting Meta International, headed by Ms. Shaden Khalaf, Head of Public Policy for North Africa and Regional Sustainable Development Officer at the company, alongside representatives from Moharram & Partners.
