Minister of Parliamentary Affairs: The draft labor law is at the top of the government’s concerns

– The government is keen to issue balanced legislation between the parties to labor relations, the state, the employer, and the worker, taking into account international standards

 

The advisor participated: Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication , Community consultation on the labor law headed by Mohamed Gibran, Minister of Labor, to discuss the "draft labor law" Which will be discussed in the sessions of the Manpower Committee in the House of Representatives early next week. He thanked the House of Representatives for that, stressing that the community consultation taking place on this law will be a basic reference during the discussion of the “project.” In the House of Representatives, he stressed that the government is very keen to issue balanced legislation that takes into account international standards, and is committed to adequate discussion and social dialogue between the three working parties of the state, business owners and workers.

The sessions were attended by Eric Ochlan, director of the organization’s office. International Labor in Cairo, and representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations.

During his speech, Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Labor under the leadership of Minister Mohamed Gibran, who has rich expertise and experience in the fields of local, Arab and international work, and explained that this meeting It confirms the government’s keenness to place this legislation at the top of its concerns. 

Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Labor completed the “social dialogue” sessions. Chaired by Mohamed Gibran, Minister of Labor, to discuss the draft labor law, which includes 267 articles concerned with regulating labor relations between the two parties to the production process, namely employers and workers, in preparation for presenting it to the House of Representatives and issuing it.  

The Minister of Labor also confirmed that this project is witnessing, during these days, serious discussions on the part of representatives of employers and workers, in the context of keenness to reach a consensus that achieves the interests of all parties and enhances labor relations within the framework of a decent environment. The articles of the Constitution and relevant international agreements are taken into account, and the shortcomings contained in the existing labor law issued by Law No. “12” are addressed. for the year 2003, and for more "job security" for the worker, encouraging investment, and increasing production. He also thanked and appreciated Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi and Mr. Eric Ochlan for attending this meeting, which confirms the government’s keenness to issue balanced legislation that respects international labor standards, especially those ratified by Egypt.
