Minister of Parliamentary Affairs: Egypt attaches great importance to enhancing cooperation with France at all levels

Minister of Parliamentary, Legal and Political Affairs and Political Communication Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi said that Egypt attaches great importance to strengthening its relations with France in various fields, especially at the parliamentary level. In a way that serves common interests and deepens the partnership between the two countries.

This came during the meeting of the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, today, Sunday, with Eric Chevalier, the French Ambassador to Egypt, in the presence of Ambassador Dina Al-Saihi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Parliamentary Affairs, at the Ministry’s headquarters. 

The minister added, “Egypt values ​​the effective role played by the Egyptian-French Parliamentary Friendship Committee, which contributed to strengthening parliamentary relations between Both sides. January 28.

Continued, “Egypt has achieved clear achievements in the fields of human rights in their comprehensive sense, including approving and discussing a set of laws that reflect the state’s commitment to human rights standards, such as: the draft new criminal procedure law, etc. It includes reducing the maximum periods of pretrial detention and expanding the scope of application of its alternatives, as well as guaranteeing the right to material and moral compensation for wrongful pretrial detention, and the Foreigners’ Asylum Law, which guarantees clear rights to them and prevents their forced deportation or return to countries where they may face danger, in addition to guaranteeing their right to Education, ownership, health care, and the practice of religious rituals, and other rights.” 

Regarding the refugee file, the minister stressed that Egypt, as a government and people, has always It is a pioneer in providing humanitarian assistance, and this historical responsibility is a source of pride and pride for Egypt, as Egypt’s name has always been synonymous with security and safety, and the Egyptian people are known for their generosity and hospitality, with regard to organizing the affairs of refugees globally.

He said that the government has submitted a draft law. A new law regarding asylum for foreigners is in line with international standards and has been issued and has become one of the country’s laws. It aims to protect the rights of refugees and asylum seekers. Its executive regulations will include clear facilities and procedures, and bridges of close cooperation. Extended with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

For his part, Eric Chevalier, the French ambassador to Egypt, expressed his great happiness at this meeting, which reflects the close partnership between Egypt and France, and the joint cooperation between the two sides, ensuring the achievement of the interests of both parties.
