Minister of Parliamentary Affairs: Developing the naval fleet supports Egypt’s position and role in international trade

Minister of Parliamentary, Legal and Political Affairs, Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, confirmed that developing Egypt’s maritime fleet contributes to supporting the national economy, strengthens Egypt’s position as a regional center for maritime transport, and supports its role in international trade.

This came in a speech by Counselor Mahmoud. Fawzi during his participation, today, Tuesday, in the meeting of the Transport and Communications Committee, headed by MP Alaa Abed, to discuss the draft law submitted by the government amending some provisions of the Maritime Trade Law promulgated by Law No. 98 of 1990.

 

"Fawzi" said Egypt’s ability to develop its maritime fleet has multiple positive economic effects, as it contributes to reducing dependence on foreign currency, and enhances the strength of the national currency by increasing the efficiency of the maritime transport system, which increases the competitiveness of Egyptian exports in global markets. 

 

He added that the national maritime fleet contributes to supporting the Egyptian economy by creating new job opportunities and providing investment opportunities for local companies, which enhances Egypt’s role as a regional maritime transport center and consolidates its position in international trade.

 

The national maritime strategy aims to develop and strengthen the maritime commercial fleet by establishing shipping lines that support Egypt’s foreign trade and link Egyptian ports to their international counterparts, within the framework of supporting the system for transporting Egyptian exports of goods. .
