The Minister stressed that the national strategy for higher education and scientific research aims to support research excellence. academic and promoting innovation as the main element in serving the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030, noting that the Ministry’s work plan focuses on transforming the outputs of scientific research into products of economic value that contribute to serving the national economy, in addition to the interest in disseminating… A culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, taking into account the necessity of linking scientific research to development plans and societal needs by activating the role of the seven geographical regions, and implementing the goals of the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development”.
The Minister referred to the efforts of Egyptian researchers to advance With the knowledge index, Egypt has begun to produce and export knowledge through more than 1,000 scientific periodicals listed on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank platform in Arabic and English in all specializations, pointing to the increase in the volume of knowledge production and the expansion of the cooperation base. With major scientific publishing houses in various countries of the world, which strengthens the international community’s confidence in Egyptian scientific research, and increases Egypt’s position on the global map of scientific research in various specializations.
During the session, Dr. Hossam Othman, Deputy Minister, reviewed the performance indicators of the research centers’ strategies, the plan drawn up for linking with the industrial sector and entrepreneurs, and the mechanism for establishing centers to benefit from artificial intelligence applications.
The Council reviewed the vision of transforming Egypt into an innovative and sustainable knowledge society, employing innovation to create value, and enhancing sustainability in all productive and service sectors, in a way that enhances the quality of life, growth, and competitiveness of the country regionally and globally, and creates regional alliances to stimulate innovation. And entrepreneurship.
The Council also reviewed the strategy for improving the higher education and scientific research system through artificial intelligence, and implementing a number of mechanisms in this regard, including capacity building and training researchers and leaders on the uses of artificial intelligence applications, and establishing research centers for applications. Artificial intelligence in priority areas, such as: (agriculture, manufacturing, energy, health, environment, medicine, textile) in cooperation with the private sector and development partners, in addition to stimulating the safety and security of artificial intelligence in the higher education and research sector.
The council discussed the proposal to establish the Egypt Research Network to support emerging companies that are not more than seven years old from the date of establishment, and ways to facilitate their transition to stages of growth and expansion.
