Minister of Health discusses joint cooperation with UN Resident Coordinator

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, received the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, “Elena Panova”, to discuss developments in joint cooperation files in the health sector and human development.

 

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting began by discussing opportunities for future cooperation in the “human development” file, and the vision of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development in this file, who stressed his great interest in cooperating with various parties and exchanging expertise to develop human resources in various fields and work sectors in the Egyptian state.

 

«Abdel Ghaffar» continued that the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt confirmed the readiness of the United Nations organizations to provide all necessary support, technical consultations and studies in the field of human development.

 

«Abdel Ghaffar» added The meeting included discussions on cooperation in the 2024 International Conference on Population, Health and Human Development, and the participation of United Nations organizations, as they agreed to hold coordination meetings with United Nations organizations to enhance participation, especially after expanding the scope of the conference to include human development.

 

«Abdel Ghaffar» said that the meeting also discussed ways to provide support in the field of family planning and provide incentives to medical teams working in remote areas, to motivate them and fill the deficit in deprived areas.

 

«Abdel Ghaffar» indicated that the meeting reviewed the features of the government’s 2024-2026 program, including expanding health coverage, empowering women, eliminating unemployment, and localizing the pharmaceutical industry. The meeting also reviewed the results of the Food Systems Summit held in September 2021. Which identified 5 main priorities aimed at addressing food issues in Egypt with the participation of all concerned parties, to achieve the desired goals.
