Minister of Education: Education and morals are essential elements for the completion of the education process
Minister of Education and Technical Education, Muhammad Abdel-Latif, confirmed that the interest in including the subject of religious education in the total is not intended for examination and evaluation, pointing out that education and morals are among the basic elements with which the education process must be completed, as the role of science does not depend only on Transferring knowledge and skills, but extends to include character formation and building moral values and positive behaviors, such as honesty, altruism, respect for others, and other values that prepare students to be active citizens in society.

Today, Tuesday, Mohamed Abdel Latif, Head of the Evangelical Community in Egypt, Dr. Reverend Andrei Zaki, and his accompanying delegation; To review the “Egyptian Baccalaureate System” proposal, the Minister reviewed the philosophy behind the proposal, noting that the Ministry launched a series of community dialogue sessions with various parties related to the educational system with the aim of clarifying the picture and discussing proposals and opinions about the new system proposal.
The minister explained that the proposal for the Egyptian baccalaureate certificate provides more than one opportunity for the student to improve, compared to the current high school system, which decides the student’s future through one opportunity. He added that the proposed proposal lifts the burden on the student and the Egyptian family as a result of the huge amount of subjects prescribed for secondary school students compared to other educational systems, explaining that the “Egyptian Baccalaureate System” proposal The foundational stage (the second and third year of secondary school) includes four main constants: the first foreign language, the Arabic language, Egyptian history, and religious education.
The minister explained that the inclusion of religious education in the total is based on consolidating values and constants. Religious and moral matters among students in light of openness to the world, adding that this matter will be done according to specific standards, including specifying a book for Islamic religious education and a book for Christian religious education in coordination and cooperation between the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and the Church. Provided that the topics address the ethical approach and values, while controlling the relative weight of the two books, stressing that the process of grading the exams for this subject will be done electronically.
For his part, Dr. Reverend Andre Zaki expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Minister of Education and Technical Education, Muhammad Abdel Latif, in Developing the educational process, stressing the support of the Evangelical community in Egypt for the Ministry’s efforts to build the Egyptian character.
