Mike Tyson posted an emotional tribute to George Foreman after the boxing legend’s death at the age of 76.
Not long after Foreman’s family made their devastating announcement on Instagram, Tyson took to X to pay his own respects to his fellow heavyweight.
Alongside two pictures of them together, Tyson wrote: ‘Condolences to George Foreman’s family. His contribution to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten.’
Foreman was a two-time world heavyweight champion and won an Olympic gold medal in Mexico City in 1968. He is one of the great second acts in sports after reclaiming the heavyweight crown after coming out of retirement.
He fought in two of the most iconic boxing events of all time, taking on Joe Frazier in ‘The Fight of the Century’ in 1971 and then Muhammad Ali in ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’ in 1974.
His family’s statement, posted on Foreman’s account, read: ‘Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announced the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman St. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

‘A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.
‘Humanitarian, an Olympian, and two time heavyweight champion of the world, he was deeply respected – a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name – for his family.
‘We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.’
A former associate of Tyson once claimed that the two-time heavyweight world champion was afraid of Foreman during his time in the ring.
Tyson was once the self-professed ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ due to his brutal knockout power and the terrifying rage he possessed in the ring.
He seemed scared of nobody during his peak years. However, Bobby Goodman – Iron Mike’s promoter Don King’s matchmaker – stated earlier this month that the now 58-year-old did not want to face Foreman.
‘Georgie, you’ll never believe this but, f***ing Tyson is scared s***less of Foreman and wants no part of him,’ Goodman is quoted as saying in a 2005 article by Boxing Scene.
‘I was there when Don was trying to make the fight. He was telling Tyson that Foreman represented huge money, plus he was old and slow and would be no problem.
‘Tyson got up and screamed at King saying, ‘I’m not fighting that f***ing animal, if you love the motherf***** so much, you fight him!’
