Watch live: Australian Open draw revealed
The draw for this year’s Australian Open kicked off at 2.30pm in Melbourne.
You can watch the full draw below.
Tricky for de Minaur first up
Eighth seed and Australia’s leading hope Alex de Minaur has a tough opener against Botic van de Zandschulp, who upset Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open last year
Nick’s opening clash
Australia’s Nick Kyrgios has drawn Jacob Fearnley, of Great Britain.
That’s a good outcome for the Australian, who has entered the event with a protected ranking after his long injury lay-off. Fearnley doesn’t necessarily represent a tough encounter for Kyrgios. He should be happy with that.
Kyrgios has been under an injury cloud in the last day or so.
He says serving is off the cards for a few days to give himself every chance to be fit for the start of the Open on Sunday. The 29-year-old said he’ll carefully monitor the final stages of his preparations for his home slam after a fresh injury threatened his involvement.
