Mason Mount breaks silence with message to Man United fans after latest injury setback – after Ruben Amorim confirmed the star faces a ‘long’ layoff

Mason Mount has issued a message to Manchester United supporters following confirmation he faces another spell on the sidelines with injury.

Mount saw a specialist on Wednesday after he went off with a muscle injury less than 15 minutes into United’s win in the Manchester derby last weekend.

The midfielder had been consoled by team-mates as he made his way off the pitch at the Etihad Stadium after his latest setback.

Mount has only played in 33 out of a possible 77 games since joining United from Chelsea for £60million last year.

Writing on Instagram, Mount told Man United fans he is ‘devastated’ following the injury.

The England international the issued a defiant message to supporters as he begins his recovery.

‘Words can’t portray how devastated I’m feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant,’ Mount wrote.

‘United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith.

‘I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved.’

Mount’s message came after Man United boss Ruben Amorim revealed earlier on Friday that he expects the midfielder to have a ‘long’ layoff.

‘Several weeks,’ Amorim said at his press conference.

‘I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long. And that’s it, it’s part of football and you continue.

‘What I can do is to help Mase, to teach him how to play our game when he’s recovering. To try to use that time for him to think about different things.

‘I think the worst part is that we don’t have time to train like we should do, when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.

‘With Mason Mount, we are going to help him. It is really hard for a player to be out for so long and is trying really hard, the same for me.

‘If they try really hard, we will help them until the end.’
