Married Democrat who touts himself as ‘just a regular guy’ exposed for ‘adult friend finder’ dating site account

A married Democrat in a close Michigan congressional race is in hot water after it was discovered that his email was used to sign up for an adult dating and casual sex site account.

Curtis Hertel, a Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, signed up for the steamy Adult Friend Finder and may have accessed it while he was married, DailyMail.com has learned.

Records show that his email was discovered among those used to sign up for the dating and sex site. The email came to light as a result of a 2016 data leak in which over 400 million users’ information was compromised.

Despite his involvement with the sex site, he claims in a recent ad that ‘I’m just a regular guy,’ doing work around the house, ‘drinking beer and smoking meat.’

Hertel, records show, used his personal email to sign up for the account using the grimy username ‘Skumdogs’ in 2007.

DailyMail.com has reviewed evidence showing that Hertel deleted his account in 2007 after being active for a week, long before his 2010 marriage.

Curtis Hertel and his wife Elizabeth Hertel. The couple got married in 2010, four years before the Democrat last accessed his AdultFriendFinders.com account.

However, records obtained after the 2016 data breach show that he may have last accessed it in 2014, years after his 2010 marriage to his wife Elizabeth Hertel.

The ‘last visit’ timestamp is not always accurate because closed accounts could still be searchable.

Still, the conflicting accounts don’t deny Hertel’s participation in the ‘the world’s largest sex and swinger personals community.’

‘Candidates are pretty full of themselves,’ Hertel says in a commercial promoting his campaign. ‘Me, I’m just a regular guy.’

‘I coach my son’s basketball team. I mow my own lawn and I like to drink beer and smoke meat,’ he says.

However, his ‘regular guy’ persona may not paint a full picture of the candidate who in the past took steps towards setting up an account for an extramarital fling.

Hertel’s campaign did not provide comment to DailyMail.com on the account.

The email associated with Hertel, ‘Hertel2002@hotmail.com,’ has been linked to the Democrat on various sites.

Most obviously he has that email listed as his contact on a Democratic site called BlueVoterGuide.org.

The scandal comes while Hertel is in a close race to replace Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin who is currently running for U.S. Senate in Michigan.

His GOP opponent, Tom Barrett, ran against Slotkin in 2022 and lost by eight points.

But this go around the race is much tighter.

The race for Michigan’s 7th District has been identified as one of the most promising races to flip a sear this cycle by the National Republican Congressional Committee.

As a result, Barrett is one of the select few Republicans receiving campaign funding from the organization.

Other candidates have also come under scrutiny this election cycle for their accounts on adult sites.

Democrat-turned-Independent candidate for Nebraska’s U.S. Senate seat Dan Osborn, 49, denied allegations that he was exposed for being on Ashley Madison despite being married to his wife of 22 years, Megan, with whom he shares three children.

An email directly connected to Osborn was used to sign up for the infamous affair website Ashley Madison, DailyMail.com learned.

The dating website is well known for facilitating extramarital affairs. It was created in 2001 with the slogan ‘life is short, have an affair’ with over 37 million unfaithful spouses taking the bait.

His campaign denied that Osborn ever ‘used Ashley Madison.’ But the candidate had access to the email – a ‘shared corporate account’ that ‘multiple people’ used.

Osborn, a Catholic, is weathering other rumored scandals too.

He had access to a Twitter account that was previously caught liking explicit gay porn and pictures of naked girls on X, screenshots obtained by DailyMail.com show.

Osborn’s campaign also denied that he ‘liked’ gay pornography on Twitter, now X, between 2020 and 2021.

But they confirmed that Osborn had access to the account ‘BCTGM 50G Union President’ along with ‘multiple people.’

Similarly, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson made a series of crude and concerning remarks on pornographic forum Nude Africa where he called himself a ‘perv’ and ‘black Nazi,’ a damning CNN report revealed in September.

Robinson, who is still on the ballot in North Carolina, denied the reports and claimed they are all ‘outright lies’ or only ‘half truths.’

The investigation by CNN found that Robinson posted several concerning comments on the pornographic website Nude Africa.

This included expressing support for reinstating slavery and, unprovoked, writing: ‘I’m a black NAZI!’

Posting in the forum Robinson also revealed unfiltered thoughts on issues like race, gender and abortion.

In October 2010, Robinson wrote: ‘Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it (slavery) back. I would certainly buy a few.’

Many called for Robinson to drop out of the race following the report.
