Maoists appeal for talks, demand end to anti-Naxal operations

Facing heat from the intense anti-Naxal operations, the Central committee of CPI (Maoist) on Saturday once again appealed to the Central and State government to halt the ongoing ‘Operation Kagar’. In a second letter purportedly issued by CPI (Maoist) and signed by their spokesperson Abhay, they claimed that they were ready for talks without any conditions.Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai held a high-level meeting with senior police officials. The banned group, which is fast depleting following heavy casualties in frequent encounters with the security forces, has asked Central and state governments to create a conducive environment for the peace talks.

The second statement dated April 25, 2025, accepted the killing of three Maoists recently (April 21, 2025). The letter referred to a recent operation in Jharkhand in which a central committee member with a bounty of Rs 1 crore, Prayag Manjhi alias Vivek, was among the eight Naxals neutralised in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district.

The letter appealed to the state governments of Jharkhand, Telangana and Maharashtra to hold peace talks and stop operations.
