Man United 2-3 Nottingham Forest: Ruben Amorim suffers first Old Trafford defeat as visitors stun the Red Devils to go fifth
Manchester United were handed a second successive defeat after visitors Nottingham Forest stunned Ruben Amorim’s side with a 3-2 win at Old Trafford.
In a breathless first 20 minutes, Forest took the lead through Nikola Milenkovic before Rasmus Hojlund equalised, but the Tricky Trees struck twice in seven second half minutes to take the lead.
Captain Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts hope with a fabulous first-time effort from the edge of the box on 61 minutes, as Amorim shuffled his pack and rang the changes.
But despite bringing on the likes of Mason Mount, Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford, United were unable to find an equaliser against a Forest side that dropped deeper and became more compact.
It was a historic night for the visitors who have now beaten both United at Old Trafford and Liverpool at Anfield, and move up into fifth as a result of Saturday’s stunning win.
