MAGA congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna defends Trump after book’s ‘distasteful’ bed claims

Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna is blasting a report alleging that Donald Trump offered her the chance to rest in the bed on his campaign plane if she didn’t tell Melania.

She slammed it as ‘distasteful’ and ‘gross.’

Luna, who was pregnant when the incident took place, detailed what really happened in a lengthy post on X.

She said she was experiencing pre-eclampsia symptoms when she was traveling on Trump Force One in the summer of 2023.

She said that Trump ‘being the gentleman and good person that he is, said if I did not feel well, I could use the back room. He did this in a respectful way and in front of my husband, of which we thanked him. He also assured me that they had a medical team on board in case anything happened and they were aware of how pregnant I was.’

She was responding to a tweet from the Daily Beast that published a report from Axios reporter Alex Isenstadt’s book Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power, which comes out Tuesday.

Isenstadt discussed the book on DailyMail’s Welcome to MAGAland podcast on Monday.

An excerpt of the book published by the Daily Beast reported Trump offered the pregnant Luna, 35, the chance to lay down on the bed aboard his campaign plane if she needed to rest.

He also asked Luna to keep the offer hush-hush and joked that his wife doesn’t like for other women to be in his bed, the website reported.

‘If you need a bed to lay down in, there’s one here on the plane. If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it,’ Trump told the MAGA newcomer, according to Isenstadt’s retelling.

‘Just don’t tell Melania. She doesn’t like other women on my bed,’ he added.

Luna, a darling of the MAGA world and close friend of Trump, said she was responding to the because it was ‘attacking @POTUS, his marriage, our first lady, and frankly implying something distasteful about me.’

‘This was the most compassionate thing that could’ve been done at the time. I find it disgusting that the author fails to recognize that,’ she wrote on X.

‘The author of this book never reached out to me for comment. Which means that this book is likely going to be a s*** hit piece. If people in POTUS orbit are talking to this author, they need to be cut off immediately. This is gross,’ she added.

The Daily Beast took its version from excerpts of Isenstadt’s book published by Axios.

‘In our report, Axios correctly portrayed and contextualized comments made by President Trump during an interaction that he had with Rep. Luna, an interaction she confirmed in her statement did in fact happen,’ Axios said in a statement.

Luna and her husband Andrew welcomed a son in August 2023.

Since then she has championed the rights of new mothers.

Luna recently proposed a resolution that asks the House to allow its members who are new mothers to be able to vote by proxy — remotely from home — during the first six weeks of their babies’ lives. She has bipartisan support on the matter.

The House did allow proxy voting during the COVID pandemic but removed that option when infections died down.

In addition to the preeclampsia, Luna said she developed other complications after her son’s birth, including mastitis. She had to go onto antibiotics and blood pressure medications.

The delivery and subsequent complications meant Luna could not reliably attend House sessions to vote at a time there was a series of high-stake issues being debated, including the federal budget and the first-ever ouster of a House speaker.

The Florida Republican campaigned for Trump last year and remains close to him.

She even proposed legislation that would direct the secretary of the Interior to carve the Trump’s figure on Mount Rushmore.
