MAFS’ Morena Farina Claims The Show Used AI To Make Her Speak Italian

Over the years, the team behind Married At First Sight (MAFS) have been accused of all sorts of editing tricks to make the show as dramatic as possible. From taking snippets of audio out of context to creating whole new sentences, the producers and editors certainly have some sneaky tricks up their sleeves. However, for the first time in MAFS history, a contestant is claiming that the editors have altered what was said using AI.

In an interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle, current MAFS bride Morena Farina claimed that AI technology was used to make it appear like she spoke Italian at her wedding to Tony Mojanovski earlier in the season.

“My wedding — do you remember me speaking Italian? How sexy did I sound? I wish I could talk Italian like that,” she said.

When the interviewer, Lachlan Guertin, questioned whether it was AI, Morena confirmed.

“I talk broken dialect,” Morena continued, adding that she never rehearsed the Italian line.

“I said in English: ‘The way he looked at me’ and then what I heard in Italian, I went, ‘they didn’t do their homework right’. I don’t speak Italian,” she claimed.

“I slowed it down, and I watched the lips moving. Oh my god, that’s just sensational.”

Morena also made the same claims on her own Instagram Story.

Although Morena doesn’t seem too fussed about the use of AI, it does raise some ethical implications and further blur the line between reality and reality television.
