Married At First Sight‘s (MAFS) Awhina Rutene has revealed that she and her “Plan B” Groom, Tim King, have recently exchanged texts following their Final Test Date, and honestly, I ship these two more than her and her MAFS ‘husband’, Adrian Araouzou.
Ahead of the MAFS Final Vows, the experts decided to put our participants through one more plot twist: Final Test Week.
During Final Test Week, our established couples are separated and are given the opportunity to meet another potential match, answering the question, “Is the grass greener on the other side?”.
One of the participants to jump at the opportunity to meet their “Plan B” was Awhina Rutene, who’s had a tumultuous MAFS marriage with Adrian Araouzou.
Arriving at her Final Test Date, Awhina discovered that the experts could’ve been matched with Tim King. While the pair didn’t appear to have a spark on-screen, the Perth-based bride revealed that she recently reconnected with her backup hubby.

Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, Awhina shared that she and Tim “had a conversation” only two days after their episode aired.
“Watching that back, he was such a beautiful person, and I remember that whole day, he was actually so kind and caring,” she dished to the publication.
“I just reached out to him and I said, ‘Hey, I really appreciate meeting you. You’re very kind and I really hope that from your little cameo on MAFS that you’ve got heaps of people from the Gold Coast sliding into your DMs. You are a really great guy and it was really nice to meet you’.”
While we’d hope for Awhina to find the love she finally deserves, she says her chats with her backup hubby were “purely platonic”.
“It was just confusing to me how he was another possible match of mine when they matched him with Adrian, because there are no similarities between the two,” she recalled.
Reflecting on her date with Tim, Awhina believed her MAFS experience would’ve been “completely different” in comparison to the tumultuous relationship she had with Adrian.
“One, you wouldn’t need subtitles for Tim. Two, he actually communicated like an adult and we could have a conversation,” she shared — and we clocked that shade.
“I remember on my honeymoon, the first honesty box I ever did turned into a massive argument. And since then, it was almost like every question I answered I was scared to answer organically because I was scared of what [Adrian] might say in response.
“Whereas with Tim, we could have a conversation, and I didn’t feel like there was this weight on my chest. I felt like I was communicating with another adult who had emotional maturity behind him, and there was a genuine curiosity.”

Also speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, Tim claimed that he and Awhina had plans to “meet up” soon. OOO, I am shipping it!
“We agreed that if I’m in Perth anytime soon, I’ll let her know and we can grab a coffee,” Tim shared.
“It was great to hear from her and to chat about our experience on the date together, as after the date, I got taken out by the producers, and that was it.”
While they say it’s platonic, I am manifesting more for my girl, Awhina. She has truly been THROUGH IT this season, and I’m dying for her to find the love she deserves.
If it is with Tim, I’m hoping it’s everything she dreams of and more. But if it isn’t, please don’t let it be Adrian. LOL.
