Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed his keenness to follow up on the work of the Competition Protection Agency, given the importance of its role in adopting policies that support competition. And enhancing its impact in achieving economic growth, and supporting the state’s efforts in attracting various investments.

 

This came during the meeting held by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, today, Sunday, with the head of the Competition Protection and Prevention Agency. Monopoly Practices Dr. Mahmoud Mumtaz; To review the most prominent efforts of the device at the international level.

The head of the Competition Protection Authority presented some of the international praise in this regard, which confirmed that Egypt has achieved remarkable progress in recent years in supporting competition, thanks to the legislation and measures that have been taken recently, Which reflects the state’s commitment to enhancing the competitive business environment.

 

It also pointed to the pioneering role played by the Egyptian Competition Protection Agency in both the Middle East and Africa regions, as it was launched in 2022. The Arab Competition Network, and played an important role in the years 2022 and 2023 in the negotiations of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, especially the protocol on competition policy.

 

Also. The international praise touched upon Egypt’s strong commitment to the principles of the United Nations Trade and Development Organization (UNCTAD) in promoting competition and combating monopolistic practices, through adopting effective policies to combat economic hegemony and monopolistic practices, which supports the achievement of a global market. Free and effective at the regional grouping level, in addition to pointing to the success of the Egyptian Competition Protection Authority in implementing policies and procedures aimed at enhancing competitiveness and improving the business environment. Dr. Mahmoud Mumtaz pointed to the results of fruitful cooperation between the Egyptian Competition Protection Agency and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Center for Training on Competition Protection for the Middle East and Africa, through organizing training programs and holding international conferences with the participation of a number of international experts and representatives of international organizations concerned with competition policy.

 

He stressed that this cooperation strengthens the role of the Egyptian state as a central country for competition on the continental and regional levels, as it contributes to bringing in international experts in the field Competition to provide practical and professional training, exchange best practices to enhance institutional and technical efficiency, as well as reach more countries in the Middle East and Africa through renewed partnerships, while enhancing institutional and technical capabilities, and enabling competition bodies to be more prepared to deal with the most complex challenges.
