Madbouly: The Azbakeya Park revival project is part of the state’s efforts to restore the cultural splendor of historic Cairo
At the end of his tour today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and their companions inspected the Azbakeya Heritage Park development project in Cairo Governorate, in the presence of Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, and Dr. Maher Estino, project consultant, and officials from the Ministry of Housing and the Arab Contractors Company.
At the beginning of his inspection, The Prime Minister confirmed that this project aims to revive this ancient park, as part of the state’s efforts to restore the cultural splendor of many of Cairo’s various historical areas, renew the spirit and cultural and historical role of these areas, and enhance their tourist importance.
 
The Prime Minister toured the project, where he climbed the treetop in the park as a viewing point to follow the rates and percentages of implementation, and listened to An explanation from Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, about the components of the Azbakeya Park Revitalization Project, and the percentages and rates of implementation for each component, indicating that the various components have been completed with an implementation rate of about 90%, which included the implementation of works Walkways and green spaces, implementing the work of developing the Roman theatre, developing the treetop area, and rehabilitating the artificial lake on an area of 1200 square meters, which contains 2 fountains and 2 bridges with a metal structure. And wooden floors, and carrying out development work on the area of the terraces and stone stairs, and raising the efficiency of the ancient fountain and restoring it.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly listened to a detailed explanation from Dr. Maher Estino, the project consultant, About the ongoing development work in the area surrounding the park within the Khedivial Cairo development plan, which includes the Opera Square and garage, the Al-Azhar bridge and tunnel, the theater complex, the Ataba garage, and the area. Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny added that Azbakeya Park is one of the most ancient parks in Cairo Governorate, and is the only green area in the Khedivial Cairo plan, as the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities is carrying out the work of reviving it as part of the Historic Cairo Revival projects.
