Media entrepreneur and Luti Media founder Luti Fagbenle has launched a new TV production company called Osun Group, tapping “Supacell” producer Sheila Nortley as head of drama and exec producer.
Osun will focus on compelling, high-end television, providing a comprehensive production framework with specialised teams across areas including production management, finance, legal, human resources and IT. Osun also has the ability to finance development and secure production funding via a variety of routes including venture capital, extensive brand relationships, and global partners.
As well as Netflix’s superhero hit, which was recently renewed for a second season, Nortley has worked on an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s “Stay Close.” Alongside the new role, she will also continue to work as an independent producer.
Fagbenle will also continue to operate Luti Media, which has produced series including “Maxxx” for Channel 4 and Hulu and “Blue Therapy” for E4, Amazon and BET+, with a renewed focus on branded content and music videos.
“Our vision for Osun is to provide the best home for diverse talent to tell their stories, offering the infrastructure and culturally attuned leadership needed to execute their most ambitious projects,” said Fagbenle. “Sheila’s outstanding track record and dedication to diverse storytelling align perfectly with our vision. Fresh off the success of the hit series ‘Supacell,’ the timing couldn’t be better.”
Nortley added: “This is about collaboration and vision. In an industry that’s become so risk-averse, the biggest risk is not evolving. We’re excited to raise the bar by championing a spectrum of stories, voices, and perspectives, and creating outstanding TV.”
