Luke Littler slams behaviour of crowd during his Premier League darts game against world No 1 Luke Humphries

Luke Littler has slammed the crowd’s behaviour during his win over Luke Humphries on night two of the betMGM Premier League.

Littler sealed his first nightly win of the Premier League season by beating world No 1 Humphries 6-5 at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday evening.

Littler was dumped out at the quarter-final stage last week in Belfast but set up a mouthwatering clash with Humphries this time around.

There was nothing to split Littler and Humphries across the opening eight legs, but the latter then secured a break to move within touching distance of victory.

However, Littler broke straight back to force a deciding leg. He followed that by producing a moment of magic to leave himself double 20, and made no mistake as he edged out his English rival.

During the game, the crowd’s booing made a notable impact on both players and, speaking afterwards, Littler revealed his disapproval with the audience’s actions.

‘Yeah, obviously, there was a few in particular that were doing it [whistling] when Luke [Humphries] was throwing,’ Littler said after his victory.

‘Kirk [Bevins, match referee] told them to be quiet and it got even worse, and then I missed doubles and Luke breaks at 5-4.

‘I’m just like, ‘Kirk, you’ve made it worse for me there, I’m 5-4 down.’ But I broke back and held my throw very strongly again.

‘If it’s the same (outcome) as what it was when Kirk said it, then obviously just leave it. Obviously, they’ve got to step in at some point and say something. But yeah, that was pretty bad, but I got the win.’

At the start of the month, referee Bevins was forced to intervene as the teenage star was jeered by the crowd during his opening match at the Winmau Masters.

Littler made an impressive start to the tournament in Milton Keynes as he got the better of Andy Baetens in just ten minutes – however, his game was overshadowed by a hostile crowd.

At one stage referee Kirk Bevins had to issue a warning to spectators.

Ahead of the final leg Bevins shouted: ‘Stop whistling, thank you’.

ITV commentator John Rawling was left angry with the actions of fans and described them as ‘morons’.

During his coverage Rawling said: ‘What sort of a moron comes along to a big darts event and starts whistling?’.

Meanwhile, the Premier League will head to Dublin next week, with Littler due to face Gerwyn Price in his opening match of the night.

Littler moves up to second in the table behind Humphries after two weeks, with Van Gerwen and Chris Dobey completing the top four.
