Luke Littler ‘set to take on’ darts legend Phil Taylor in battle for the ages as cryptic social media post pits teen sensation against 16-time world champion

Darts fans have been sent into a frenzy after a cryptic post on social media hinted that Luke Littler will take on legend Phil Taylor.

While Littler, 18, has been partaking in the Premier League over the last month, the teenage sensation could soon be set for his biggest challenge yet.

On Friday, Target Darts – who sponsor both Littler and Taylor – posted a video with the caption: ‘For the first time ever. The Power vs The Nuke. Coming soon…’

The video on X showed both ‘The Nuke’ and ‘The Power’ as they appeared to face-off – although it remains unclear whether they were actually in the room together.

During the video, captions on screen suggested that the ‘two champions’ will go ‘head-to-head’ for ‘the first time ever’.

While Littler clinched his first World Championship last month, his potential opponent boasts a staggering 16 World Championship titles from his illustrious career.

The surprise news comes shortly after Taylor provided Littler with some advice as to how to make the most of his earnings after his Ally Pally success in January.

According to Sport Bible, Taylor said: ‘Make sure you look after your money.

‘Two bank accounts – one in one, and half in another. So that’s your tax. That’s what I always used to do.

‘Try to start investing your money, so if anything happens, if you fall down and break your arm or something, you’ve got something to fall back on.’

His advice comes in the wake of Littler showing a financial maturity beyond his years, as he has spending on holidays and meals out for friends and family.

Taylor also had a further warning for ‘The Nuke’, concerning his social media activity.

Addressing Littler’s active presence on Facebook, X and Instagram, ‘The Power’ said he should refrain from getting distracted by them.

Taylor added: ‘Keep off social media. Don’t bother with it. Let somebody else do it for you. You don’t need to read things because it can upset.’

Taylor recommended hiring a social media manager to handle his social media platforms, so that Littler can focus on the dartboard.

Littler was left furious by a crowd disturbance involving his mum during his walk-on in Thursday night’s Premier League contest in Exeter.

During his approach to the stage as part of his walk-on, Littler went to hug his mum, Lisa, who was in the crowd but received what appeared to be a push from a spectator who wanted to shake the player’s hand.

Littler responded by giving the individual a cold stare before slowly making his way to the stage.

After he had made his way onto the playing area, Littler turned in the direction of his family, held his thumb up before seemingly mouthing ‘No’ and shaking his head.
