The “spiciest season” of Love Island Australia 2024 came to a close last night, and the winners have finally been crowned. One of the winners looks kinda familiar though, and it might be because you’ve seen him on two other reality TV shows.
ICYMI, Em and Mercedes ended up coming out on top, beating Kayla and Eric and Niko and Mia for the $50,000 cash prize. Not too shabby!
The pair have the chance to either take all the money for themselves or to split it in half, but this question wasn’t asked during the finale. Interesting…
It’s not the first time Mercedes has had to decide whether to split a prize or take it all for himself, because he’s actually been on FBoy Island USA twice. And yep, he won BOTH times. Guess he’s just going around the world now trying to win as many reality TV shows as possible!
For those curious about the lore, he originally went on FBoy Island USA season two as an FBoy who had no problem talking about how he was just there for the money. Somehow, he started to develop real feelings for Louise Barnard, and she ended up picking him over Nice Guy Benedict.
Mercedes redeemed himself by deciding to split the prize money with Louise during the finale, and the couple actually pursued a relationship after the show ended. It didn’t end so well though, with their relationship being “on and off” constantly.
“He was like this Cheshire Cat [on the show],” she told Variety. “I found out that he has this temper and everything. But I didn’t see any of that. Watching it back, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I look like an idiot’. I really look like I’m just falling for all these tricks.”
Mercedes went back on FBoy Island USA season three as an FBoy and ended up winning Hali Okeowo’s heart. While he did fool Hali during the show, he ended up choosing to split the prize again so he didn’t come off looking like a total jerk.
Hali wasn’t too bitter after the show but joked on Instagram that he shouldn’t try for a third win on FBoy Island USA. That’s probably why he came to Australia to try his luck instead, and it’s no surprise he came out on top.
Guess now that Mercedes has his third reality TV crown he might be looking for his fourth? I wonder if he’ll pivot from island-based shows and head into the jungle next.
