Liverpool fans on social media have turned their attention to Trent Alexander-Arnold after Virgil van Dijk agreed a contract extension with the club.
After months of speculation, Liverpool announced on Thursday that club captain Van Dijk had finally put pen to paper on a new two-year contract.
The contract will run until 2027 and will see the club captain become Europe’s highest-paid defender in deal Mail Sport understands to be worth around £400,000-per-week.
The news will come as yet another significant boost for Liverpool fans after talisman Mohamed Salah also committed his future to Anfield by signing a new deal last week.
With two significant deals completed, the club which once faced the possibility of losing three key players on free transfers this summer now have only one whose contract is still due to expire at the end of the season.
That is, of course, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been heavily linked with a move to join Real Madrid.

While a deal has yet to be agreed between Alexander-Arnold and the Spanish giants all signs appear to be pointing towards the 26-year-old departing his boyhood club.
However, that has not stopped some particularly persistent Liverpool supporters taking to social media to call on Alexander-Arnold to remain on Merseyside next season.
One wrote: ‘Now that VVD’s announcement is out, it’s Trent staying’s that next. E go do all man like feem! Lad stays!’
Another jokingly added: ‘A part of me thinks Trent is dragging all of this out because he wants his Gerrard moment where he rejects Madrid at the last minute and stays at Liverpool to cement his legacy… (I’m deluded)’
A third agreed: ‘Honestly can’t understand why Trent would want to throw something like this away , it just doesn’t make sense , Liverpool are on the up now.’
A further fan wrote: ‘Am I still crazy thinking Trent could still stay?’
Another supporter pointed out that Alexander-Arnold had ‘liked’ the announcement of Van Dijk’s contract extension on Instagram.

The speculation surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s future comes as the England international recently returned to training following an injury.
An ankle injury has ruled the England international out of Liverpool’s last four matches, including their Carabao Cup final defeat against Newcastle at Wembley last month.
The news will come as a major boost to Reds boss Arne Slot as he looks to complete an impressive first season in the Anfield dugout.
