Liverpool-bound Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili gives honest admission on his form after making ANOTHER costly error

Liverpool loanee Giorgi Mamardashvili admitted his drop in form after making another costly mistake during Valencia’s clash against Real Valladolid on Saturday.

The Georgian goalkeeper is set to arrive at Anfield at the start of the next term, although his role as an undisputed starter remains unknown.

Mamardashvili will join the Reds amid Alisson’s stunning form throughout this season, which peaked in the challenging win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday when the Brazilian made nine saves.

Caoimhin Kelleher remains a convincing back-up option in Arne Slot’s toolkit, even though his future remains in limbo.

Meanwhile, Mamardashvili endures a disappointing season in Spain, with his Valencia sitting in 16th place in the LaLiga table, while the 24-year-old conceded 38 goals in 22 domestic league games.

Following another costly error against Valladolid, where the Georgian made a poor pass intercepted by opponent Juanmi Latasa, who then scored the goal in the 40th minute, he took to social media to admit a drop in form throughout this campaign.

‘I know I’m not in my best moment now, but I’m convinced that challenges make us stronger,’ Mamardashvili wrote on Instagram.

‘I’m putting in my best effort to be the best version of me as soon as possible. Thank you very much, Mestalla, for the support!

‘Today’s victory is very important for us and gives us energy to continue. Up all the way!’

The current Valencia shot-stopper has managed to get only five clean sheets during this season.

After an inspiring last campaign, which concluded with ninth place in the LaLiga table, Los Ches were set to further advance by signing several key players, such as Rafa Mir and Enzo Barrenechea, on loan from Sevilla and Aston Villa, respectively.

Based on a loan deal, Mamardashvili remained for another year at Valencia after signing for a fee worth £29million.

The 24-year-old has recommended himself as a top goalkeeper during a stunning Euro 2024 campaign with Georgia, which saw the tournament’s underdogs qualify for the round of 16 following a surprise 2-0 win over Portugal.

However, it is understood that the Reds’ shot-stopper Alisson is in no rush to leave amid another thriving campaign at Anfield.

The Brazilian conceded only 18 goals in 21 Premier League games, while Arne Slot’s band confidently sit in first place with 70 points – 16 above second-placed Arsenal.

The points gap comes after the Reds beat Southampton by 3-1 on Saturday, with the opener scored by Darwin Nunez, followed by Mohamed Salah’s brace in the second half.
