LIV Golf finally secures major TV deal in the US with Fox ahead of Saudi-backed league’s third season

Fox Sports and LIV Golf have announced they have signed a multi-year TV deal ahead of the new season.

Beginning in February, all three days of LIV Golf’s tournaments will air across Fox, with more than half of the League’s schedule airing on Fox or FS1.

‘We are thrilled to partner with Fox Sports, one of the preeminent broadcast networks in the world,’ said LIV Golf CEO.

‘LIV Golf is getting bigger and bolder, and this relationship signals the next phase of growth as our League joins the company of the nation’s premier sports leagues and conferences.

‘I want to thank the Fox Sports team who share our vision for the future of golf, a new model that is redefining how the sport is experienced.

‘LIV Golf is drawing a younger, more active and tech-savvy fan base, and as our players and teams prepare for LIV Golf’s biggest season yet, this agreement will take our broadcast to new heights.’

It comes a day after Scott O´Neil was formally introduced as the new CEO of Saudi-funded LIV Golf.

O´Neil, who took over for Greg Norman, was CEO of Merlin Entertainments who was in charge of business operations of more than 140 of the company´s attractions. He previously was CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, whose holdings include the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

LIV Golf caused a major disruption in the golf world when it first launched, luring top players away from the PGA Tour with the promise of huge paydays and fracturing the sport.

LIV Golf begins its third season on February 6 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The first American event is April 4-6 at Trump Doral, a week before the Masters.

PGA Tour Enterprises and PIF remain in talks about the Saudi sovereign wealth fund becoming a minority investor, although it remains unclear how that would affect the two leagues or any path toward reuniting golf´s best players.
