Lieutenant General Osama Rabie discusses with the Japanese Ambassador ways of cooperation in training and green transformation

Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, discussed today, Monday, with Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, ways to strengthen the bonds of joint cooperation in the fields of training and green transformation, at the Guidance Building in Ismailia Governorate.

At the beginning of the meeting, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie stressed the Suez Canal Authority’s keenness to open direct channels of communication with all partners and customers and enhance joint cooperation in a way that contributes to serving the maritime community optimally in light of the ongoing security challenges. This is unprecedented in the Red Sea region. 

Admiral Rabie explained that the Suez Canal has introduced new services to keep pace with the needs and requirements of ships crossing the canal in normal and emergency circumstances, including ship maintenance and repair services, pollution control services, maritime rescue services, and others.&nbsp

The Chairman of the Authority expressed his aspiration to strengthen relations of cooperation and partnership and to invest rapprochement between Egypt and Japan to advance joint projects with the Suez Canal in the areas of investment, training, sustainable development and other areas of common interest, pointing in this regard to the important role played by them. During the recent period, the Japanese Embassy sought to raise the level of Egyptian-Japanese relations to the level of distinguished partnership, appreciating the distinguished effort of the Japanese Ambassador in Cairo in supporting joint relations during his term as Ambassador in Cairo, which is scheduled to end next November, wishing him success and lasting success. 

Lieutenant General Rabie explained that the Suez Canal has taken serious steps towards green transformation within the Authority’s strategy to declare the Suez Canal the Green Canal by 2030, including the start of waste removal services from ships crossing the canal in the Port Said Ghats and Suez Ghats areas, in addition to converting existing pilotage stations. Along the canal to work with renewable energy. 

For his part, Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, the Japanese ambassador to Egypt, expressed his pride and appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority, stressing that the Suez Canal will remain a major pillar for ensuring the sustainability and stability of global supply chains. It cannot be replaced or dispensed with alternative methods.
