Launching the Best University in Student Activities Competition, sponsored by the Minister of Higher Education, starting November 15

The Supreme Council for Education and Student Affairs held its regular meeting, headed by Dr. Mustafa Rifaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, in the presence of a number of university presidents and members of the Council who are vice presidents of universities for education and student affairs, at the headquarters of the secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. confirmed. Mustafa Rifaat emphasized the importance of focusing on implementing all the principles and objectives of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030, and working hard to ensure the regularity of the educational process according to the plans established in this regard, wishing all universities further progress and prosperity in various fields.

And during At the meeting, the Council discussed a number of important topics, most notably the launch of the (Best University in Student Activities) competition, sponsored by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This competition came within the framework of His Excellency’s directives that aim to pay attention to university youth, And enhancing the role of student activities in building their healthy personalities, deepening their spirit of loyalty and belonging, and emphasizing the importance of creating a conscious generation capable of construction and creativity.

The Council listened to the presentation made by Dr. Advisor to the Minister for Student Activities and the Director of the Leadership Development Institute, And Mr. Vice Dean of the Institute about the criteria for the “Best University for Student Activities” competition. at universities, which included the following points: (compatibility of activity plans with the national strategy for higher education, the proposed vision for the student activities plan and developing the necessary financial resources, the role of student training centers in supporting activities and implementing simulation models, the volume of student participation in activities at the university and college levels, the participation of universities In national and international activities, the role of universities in supporting activities for students with disabilities, participation in community service and environmental development activities, measuring student satisfaction with activities through periodic questionnaires, supporting and caring for gifted and innovative people, activities related to student initiatives and leadership. Business, universities’ commitment to uploading activities on the designated platform and documenting them with innovative videos.

In light of what was presented by the Director of the Electronic Services Center at Mansoura University regarding the electronic advancement platform for the (Best University for Student Activities) competition, which was hosted by Mansoura University on its website Electronically, the Council, under the supervision of the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, agreed to set the date for launching the competition on 11/15/2024, provided that the competition will be completed on 4/15/2025, after which the evaluation and arbitration phase begins. Through a specialized arbitration committee headed by Dr. Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Student Activities.

In this regard, Dr. Mustafa Rifaat thanks Mansoura University for hosting the “Best University for Student Activities” competition platform, and for the efforts made by the university’s electronic services center in launching the platform, and providing all technical support to ensure its success.

The council also listened to what was presented by Mr. Dr. Director of the Electronic and Knowledge Services Center at the Supreme Council of Universities regarding the launch of the new updates to the student activities registration platform, which included the new links that were added to the platform, which illustrate the efforts of universities in implementing the directives of the President of the Republic regarding activities. Raising awareness of presidential initiatives. The Council also confirmed that the platform is the only source for preparing reports and issuing statistics related to the volume of activities included in it.

The Council recommended that universities should ensure that all data related to activities is entered, whether they are awareness activities or other activities. Of all kinds, with an emphasis on ensuring accuracy in entering this data. The Council also stressed the importance of preparing future plans for activities until August 2025, and including them within the agenda of the Student Activities Platform to ensure organization and follow-up.

In light of the Council’s review of the recommendations contained in the joint committee report from the Committee on Education, Scientific Research, Communications and Information Technology, and the Office of the Energy, Environment and Workforce Committee on “Activating the social responsibility of students in higher education through environmental preservation,” The Council recommended adding a new activity to the student activities registration platform under the title (Environmental Conservation Awareness Activities). 

The Council also recommended that the Vice Presidents of Universities for Education and Student Affairs develop environmental awareness programs that include presenting Short films about the environment and its various issues, such as climate change and others. Emphasis was also placed on inviting students to participate in community activities related to preserving the environment and submitting reports on them through the item that was created on the platform.

Within the framework of the Ministry of Education’s participation Higher education and scientific research in the “A New Beginning for Human Building” initiative Within the initiative of the President of the Republic for Human Development, and through the “Learn Healthy” program, which includes conducting a physical fitness examination for all new students in Egyptian universities, numbering 650,000 students, the program aims to create a database that includes (weight and height) for each student. To develop a strategic vision to raise the physical efficiency of university students, the Council stressed to the Vice Presidents of Universities for Education and Student Affairs the necessity of quickly entering the data required to ensure the effective implementation of the program.

The Council also listened to what was presented by the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding the vision. The new study regulations were developed to develop study regulations at the level of all specializations in Egyptian universities, where the focus was on designing and drafting study regulations in accordance with the latest versions of the reference frameworks issued by the relevant sector committees, in line with the most common study systems globally, as this trend aims to increase the opportunities of the Egyptian graduate in the markets. Regional and international work, in accordance with the latest global systems, and to facilitate the movement of students between higher education institutions in various countries of the world.
