Khaled Fouda: Presidential directives to develop a strategic vision for protecting World Heritage sites

The Advisor to the President of the Republic for Local Development and Supervisor of the Supreme Committee for the Management of World Heritage Sites, Khaled Fouda, confirmed that there are directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to develop a strategic vision to protect and preserve Egyptian World Heritage sites.

The Advisor to the President of the Republic pointed out that – According to a statement by Aswan Governorate, today, Sunday, after his visit to a number of World Heritage sites in the governorate registered on the UNESCO list – to the importance of preserving the sites registered in Aswan Governorate on the list of World Heritage Sites issued by UNESCO, and benefiting from them in development plans.

 

The statement indicated that the advisor to the President of the Republic met with officials of the relevant authorities in Aswan Governorate, in the presence of Engineer Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor of Aswan, to review and discuss the current position of all projects being implemented in The scope of the World Heritage Area in the governorate, starting from the Philae temples to the Abu Simbel temples, as well as the project to establish the Abu Simbel tourist city train station, which is the last station in the path of the second line project for the high-speed electric train and the tourism projects that will be built around it. Integrated development.

 

For his part, Deputy Governor of Aswan, Eng. Amr Lashin, stressed the importance of developing and maximizing all capabilities to preserve world heritage sites within the governorate, in order to benefit from them in sustainable development plans. This requires coordination with the relevant authorities to manage and protect these sites and the surrounding environment, pointing out that the governorate has a long record of constructive cooperation with UNESCO in the educational, archaeological, cultural, artistic and heritage fields.
