Everett “Kenny” Law, a familiar face on Discovery‘s long-running Moonshinersdied yesterday surrounded by loved ones. That, according to a Facebook post by his cousin Henry Law. He was 68.
Law was a third-generation distiller who ran a legal distillery called Law’s Choice in Franklin County, VA. His cousin was his partner in that endeavor. He joined the popular series in Season 8.
A message posted to the show’s social media accounts called Law “a treasured member of the Moonshiners community.”
According to WKRN, the Law cousins are the grandsons of Owen Law and Henry’s father, Amos, was “one of the most notorious moonshiners in the country.” His father reportedly taught the cousins how to make liquor when they were still just kids. They went on to make names for themselves.
In 2020, Kenny told WFXR, “Back in the heyday, me and him, we made about as much liquor as anybody in the country or more I would say.”
Henry told the outlet they made up to 47,000 gallons a year.
Moonshiners castmember Steve Tickle posted a tribute online.
“It pains me deeply to say that Kenny Law has passed onto his reward,” wrote Tickle. “If you knew Kenny you would have known he was a true friend and loyal to the end he was a wealth of knowledge for me and anyone who knew him. Rest in peace Kenny you will be missed. Please pray for his family everyone.”
Law is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kenzie and Nathan Wright; grandsons, Atlas and Fox Wright; brothers, David Law and Ronnie (Suzanne) Law; cousin, Henry Lee Law who was like a brother to him; and many beloved aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
